Parole is when a person is allowed to serve the last part of their sentence in the community. They must obey certain rules or conditions until the whole sentence has finished. When a court sentences a person to prison for more than twelve months, the court must say how long the person must stay in prison for. This is called the non-parole period. A guide for families & friends of prisoners on visiting, depositing money, mental health, transport, transfers, video visits and finding where they are. To locate a prisoner, give Sentence Administration a call on 8346 1310 / 9289 5258 (after hours until 10pm and weekends and public holidays). You will need to know the full name of the person you are trying to locate, plus their MIN ( prisoners ID number) and/or date of birth. If you have any questions about a transfer, ring the Prisoner Placement Office on 8346 1169 or 8346 1153. If you need help with these phone calls, contact us.
