Parole

parole

Parole is when a person is allowed to serve the last part of their sentence in the community. They must obey certain rules or conditions until the whole sentence has finished.

When a court sentences a person to prison for more than twelve months, the court must say how long the person must stay in prison for. This is called the non-parole period.
