Parolee Support Initiative

The Parolee Support Initiative (PSI) provides comprehensive support to parolees with an intellectual disability and/or mental health issues throughout their period of transition from custody back into the community, with the explicit aim of successful community integration.

PSI arranges Department of Housing accommodation in the Liverpool/Fairfield area and an intensive support program providing up to 20 hours of support per week for 6 months after they are released from prison.

PSI support begins 3 months prior to the parolee leaving prison with needs assessments and the development of a comprehensive support/case plan.

Referrals are made by Statewide Disability Services, Long Bay Correctional Centre and  Mental Health Unit staff at Silverwater Correctional Centre
