Empowering Women, Changing Lives
Position Statement

The 2017 Empowering Women, Changing Lives Breakfast was held on Wednesday 11 October at NSW Parliament House, hosted by The Hon Catherine Cusack MLC. This year’s breakfast focused on children of imprisoned mothers. The keynote speaker was the Chair of SHINE for Kids, The Hon Graham West, who spoke about the need to change sentencing laws to avoid the trauma, isolation and stigma that children suffer as a consequence of maternal incarceration.

This Empowering Women, Changing Lives Breakfast is organised by the Sydney Community Foundation in association with Women’s Justice Network (formerly WIPAN), Zonta Club of Sydney and SHINE for Kids and The Miranda Project.
