We can provide travel and accommodation assistance to people experiencing financial hardship who are travelling significant distances to visit a family member in prison.
Keeping in touch with someone in prison can be costly, both financially and emotionally. For those having to travel long distances the impact can be even greater.
This service aims to alleviate these difficulties by reimbursing some of the travel costs incurred by people visiting a prison that is a significant distance from home. It is provided in recognition of the importance of maintaining family ties and connection during a period of imprisonment.
Financial assistance is available to help with some of the costs of visiting a close family member or kinship relative who is in custody in a NSW prison. If you live more than 100km from the prison and are experiencing financial hardship that prevents travelling the long distances, then you may be eligible for this support. For more information about this program please download the Information Sheet and Application Form below.
