Join the Community Restorative Centre (CRC) Board of Directors

Expression of Interest

Are you passionate about positively changing lives by supporting people affected by the criminal legal system?
The Community Restorative Centre (CRC), a leading not-for-profit charity, is seeking Expressions of Interest for three Board Director roles. These are voluntary, part-time positions based in Sydney (hybrid).

About the Community Restorative Centre (CRC)

Founded in 1951, the CRC is the leading community provider of support services to people affected by the criminal legal system in NSW. We are a public company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
Our aim is to improve our clients’ quality of life by providing a range of practical and emotional support, assisting people to build sustainable pathways out of the criminal legal system and into the community. All CRC programs are designed to break entrenched cycles of disadvantage, offending, and imprisonment.
CRC’s strategic objective is to reduce crime and the impact of incarceration on individuals and the community through a range of services and targeted projects. We also lead the sector in research, policy advice, and advocacy.

Who We’re Looking For

CRC is seeking to add to its board of passionate, diverse, and inclusive directors by appointing new Board members with firsthand knowledge of the criminal legal system sector.
CRC is seeking applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as we recognise the importance of First Nations leadership and decision-making, at the governance level.
We are also seeking candidates with skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Strategic Governance
  • Legal and Risk Management
  • Accounting and Finance

An understanding of the obligations of company directors, including Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Governance Standards and Not-for-Profit Governance Principles, along with the completion of the AICD Company Directors Course, would be highly valued.

Commitment

This voluntary role requires attendance at bi-monthly board meetings (held in Sydney or by virtual conference), with additional participation as necessary. The term of the position will be 3 years.
